CUSTOMIZATION PRICING:

Prices for a commissioned pair of shoes from Customized by Malia range from $120 to $700+ USD. These prices strictly cover the cost of the artwork and do not include the cost of the base shoes (or whatever item is being customized) or some fees that may be necessary for your order.

Prices may exceed the estimate given if the commissioned piece is taking more labor than initially expected to complete.

ADDITIONAL COSTS:

Mock up

Prior to receiving an individualized mock up, a non refundable $25 payment is required. This goes toward a design consultation, the digital mock up along with the corresponding price estimate, and a secured spot in Customized by Malia’s order list. This fee will go towards the final customization cost if you decide to fully go through with the order.

Base shoe/item

If customers choose to have Customized by Malia provide their desired shoe or base for customization, a $20 fee will be charged along with reimbursement for the cost of the customers desired item.

Rushed orders

To avoid an additional $50 fee for rushed orders, customer orders must be placed and finalized (shoes must be sent to Customized by Malia) at least 2 weeks prior to the date they wish to receive their pair.

Order cancellation

Once preparation and painting has begun on an order, cancellations will not be allowed or accepted.

If an order is cancelled BEFORE any prep or painting has begun, the cancellation will be accepted. Any customization payment that was made upfront will be refunded (minus the cost of the mock-up fee). However, a $50 inconvenience fee will be deducted from your refund as others have been patiently waiting in line and items will have to be returned.

SHIPPING:

Shipping costs vary depending on many things for each order (the distance of the recipient, weight + size of what’s being shipped). The exact cost of your specific order will be messaged to you as soon as it is known, the payment of which will be required before your package can be sent home to you.

(Continental US shipping typically ranges from $10-$20)

Customized by Malia does ship internationally! However, be sure to understand and accept the high shipping cost and longer wait time that comes with ordering internationally.

CUSTOMER INFO:

Payments are accepted primarily through Venmo, CashApp, or bank transfer (like Zelle). Cash and check can be accepted for local orders. Customized by Malia is not responsible for duty taxes, fees, or lost packages.

Customers are welcome and encouraged to share their budget before any major design work has begun. Customized by Malia is willing to work with customer budgets within reason.

Customers have the option to either provide the shoes themselves (brand new or previously worn few times, in like-new condition), or have Customized by Malia provide the desired shoes. Either way, accurate shoe sizes are mandatory as returns (once painting process has begun) are unavailable.

1) Request a Commission - Fill out the commission request form linked on the “Customize Your Own Pair” page. From there, if your request is accepted, you will be contacted through either text, email, or social media.

2) Before a digital mock up is created and sent to the customer, a non-refundable $25 design consultation payment is required. Payment preferred through Venmo, CashApp, or bank transfer (like Zelle). Cash/check can be accepted for local orders.

3) Quote with mock up - All mock up designs created, along with the corresponding cost estimates, will be sent. Once a final design has been agreed upon, work will begin! At this time, shoes (or base item that is being customized) should be en route to Customized by Malia and a portion of the final customization cost is required to be paid.

Since the customer is required to approve the mock up before any work moves forward, only minimal adjustments are allowed to be made once painting process has begun.

4) Creation - All commission work will be hand painted with quality preparers, paints, sealants, and a whole lot of love! Generally completed in 3-6 weeks; return time may fluctuate. The customer will be updated throughout the process.

5) Payment - Once the painting portion of the customization is completed, and prior to sealing/packaging, the final customization cost (or the remainder of it) is expected to be paid in full. Payment is preferred through Venmo (@pope-malia), CashApp ($popemalia), or bank transfer (like Zelle). Cash/check can be accepted for local orders. Shoes will not be sealed, packaged, or shipped without payment.

6) Delivery - Shoes are packaged with care and shipped home to you! The exact shipping cost will now be added on. This payment is required to be paid before sending the shoes out.

The tracking number will be texted to you once made available.

Reminder: once the shoes are in the hands of the postal service, unfortunately their safety and speed of getting to you is out of my control. Customized by Malia is not responsible for lost/damaged packages at this point.
